CHRIS BYLSMA MAY 16 - 18, 2008 |
|
|
Chris Bylsma is Coming to Skeins!
Chris teaches workshops coast to coast for guilds, TNNA, Stitches, conferences and shops. Her approach to knitting is that the process and the end product should both be a joy and she designs with that in mind. She is noted for her Crayon Box Jacket & inventive Ladder Shawl. She encourages knitters to "color outside the lines" where it's more fun and to "think outside the box". Don't miss this opportunity to make your knitting more fun!
FINISHING WITH FLAIR Friday, May 16, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. $35 Even the most exquisite knitting can't compensate for poor finishing. Learn the professional tricks of invisible seams, perfect buttonholes, stabilizing necklines so a garment doesn't "grow", and shortening sleeves for that perfect handmade, not homemade finish. Hate picking up stitches to get the right number? You'll learn how to stop counting and start enjoying the perfect number of stitches every time. It's never too late to learn something new!
STASHOLOGY 201 Saturday, May 17, 9:00 - 12:00 noon $35
Stashers unite! An "adequate supply of yarn" is nothing to be ashamed of - - it's a true art and science. You already understand "archiving" (Stash 101), now explore "retrieving", "feeding" and creating from your wonderful treasure trove. Learn to release your own creative power to combine fibers, textures, colors and weight to create many different types of stash fabric. Explore how to use your stash fabric to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary.
DELIBERATE DROPS: The Ladder Shawl Saturday, May 17, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. & Sunday, May 18, 9:00 - 12:00 p.m. $60
Dropped stitches can be a wonderful asset, not a liability. We will make the Ladder Shawl combining a wide mix of fibers, textures, novelty yarns and colors with dropped stitches to create a fabulous artwear project that will excite beginner and experienced knitters alike. For a better understanding of the magic of blending fibers, Stashology 201 is recommended. This class is 2 parts to allow you to go home, work on your project, and come back to finish it.
Join us for the weekend - - all three classes only $120!
You can register by stopping in or calling the store at 248-656-9300.
