We’ve worked really hard this year to become YOUR favorite yarn shop. If we’ve managed to do that, could you do us a small favor and help us win the title of the best yarn shop in Detroit? All you have to do is vote at http://wdiv.cityvoter.com/skeins-on-main/biz/60557. Since buying the shop in January, it’s been my goal to win this coveted title. If we don’t deserve it, or if we haven’t earned your vote, then don’t do it. We want to know that we’ve honestly EARNED the title of best in Detroit. Thanks, everyone!! - Lori

July 1st, 2009Save us from inventory!
June 17th, 2009Our computers crashed last week and we don’t want to recount the store’s inventory. So, before Lori gets back into town, we’re having a “We Don’t Want To Count The Inventory Sale”. Don’t worry, she’s approved it, and we want to have some fun before she gets back!
The sale will run during regular business hours on June 18 – 20. Everything in the store will be 25% off, with the exception of patterns, books and classes. Sorry, but this discount cannot be combined with any other discounts, coupons or items already on sale.
We hope to see you then so we don’t have as much stock to count!
Dana’s Coming!!!
June 5th, 2009Skeins is VERY excited to announce the long-awaited arrival of renowned designer and instructor Dana Matuskey!!
Dana will begin teaching classes and holding socials at Skeins on Main in September. Registration for new students to her classes will begin on July 1. Current students should talk to Dana directly about how they should go about signing up.
We couldn’t possibly be more excited about this announcement. Dana is not only an incredible designer and very loved instructor, but she’s a creative, kind, and caring person. We believe she’s going to fit in just perfectly with the rest of our staff, and we ‘re certain you’re going to just love her!
Watch for an announcement regarding a welcome party in August. We want to show Dana a TRUE Skeins welcome - what better way than with food and beverage, right??? They say when you’re good at something, you should do it. We’re REALLY good at parties with food and drink, so we’ll continue to do it. And this sounds like a really good excuse to me!
Punch Card Classes Begin June 2nd
June 1st, 2009We all know what the summer is like - we’re golfing, gardening, vacationing, lazing around… It’s not always the perfect season for knitting. But there’s certainly no reason to stop knitting altogether.
That’s why we’ve created our punch card system for the summer months. Classes are 3 hours long, and you make no commitment whatsoever. Purchase a punch card, then use it for any of our summer classes (excluding workshops). Pick the day, the time, the week, the instructor… You name it. And you can move around from week to week, skip weeks, come three times a week - whatever suits your fancy. All we ask is that you call ahead and let us know you’re coming. It’s that easy! Need to cancel? That’s ok, too. Give us a ring, just so we don’t hold a chair for you.
Punch cards are available in 5 different sizes. One punch is $20, 4 for $60, 6 for $85, 8 for $110, or 12 for $150. For those non-commitals who purchase only one punch, you’ll receive 10% off your yarn, neeedles, and notions purchases during the class in which you use it only. For the others, you’ll receive the same discount any time you show your punch card for as long as it’s valid (until all punches are used up, or through August 31 - whichever comes first). Discounts are not valid on books, patterns, classes, or accessories and may not be combined with any other offers.
So why not? I mean, think about this… There are days when it’s going to rain, which means no golfing or gardening. What better way to get out of the house than to go knit? Take a class, meet new people, and have some fun, all while learning the wonderful art of knitting. We have plenty to choose from, and you can sign up even at the last minute… So there are no worries. Got stuck on a project? Come on in just when you need us, or only when you want to. The choices are all yours. How can you go wrong?
