We apologize for any inconvenience, and hope you’re able to stay home, warm and safe. Happy knitting!

Lori Sheffield <![CDATA[Drop -in Schedule]]> 2017-01-09T15:07:08Z 2017-01-09T15:07:08Z Happy New Year! The entire Skeins On Main team would like to wish you and yours a very happy, healthy, and prosperous 2017.

It’s hard to believe, but the Winter session of classes begins today. ALREADY! Can you believe it?? With the new session comes a new drop-in schedule. The schedule is:

Monday, 9:30-11:30am w/ Melissa
Tuesday, 5-7pm w/ Kate
Tuesday, 7-9pm w/ Jen
Thursday, 2-4pm w/ Melissa
Thursday, 4:30-6pm w/ Ellie (this is a Young Peoples’ Class)
Friday, 9:30-11:30am w/ Kate

All drop-in classes are $6 per hour with a one-hour minimum. We reserve the right to limit the number of seats available (although that’s almost never a problem). No reservation is required – just show up, have a seat, and get the help you need. It’s that easy.

There are still a few spots open in our six week classes, and it’s never too late to sign up. Call the shop at 248.656.9300 for a list of openings or to register for a time that suits you.

Once again, Happy New Year, and, as always, Happy Knitting!

Lori Sheffield <![CDATA[Happy Holidays, everyone!!]]> 2016-12-27T16:30:11Z 2016-12-27T16:30:02Z I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday weekend!

We had several requests for additional drop-ins this week, so I’ll be adding a Tuesday morning from 9:30-11:30am. I hope that helps and gives you a chance to get all of those Christmas knitting boo-boos fixed. We also have drop-ins on Tuesday evening, 6-9pm, Wednesday evening 6-9pm, and Friday from 9:30-11:30am.

Just a reminder that our hours this week will be as normal, except that we’ll close early on New Year’s Eve (at 2pm). Event registrations are going strong, but there are still openings in each of them for those who are interested but may have wanted to wait until after the Holidays. The Dabble & Babble classes are filling quickly, but it’s not too late, either. You can do all registrations over the phone.

Happy knitting!!

Lori Sheffield <![CDATA[Black Friday & Small Business Saturday Sales!]]> 2016-11-24T23:47:19Z 2016-11-24T23:47:19Z Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!
As the day of Turkey, family, football, and napping (usually as a result of too much turkey) comes to a close, it’s time for us to focus on the next couple of days at Skeins.
Really, we’d like to celebrate both Black Friday AND Small Business Saturday, so we’re going to run one big sale over both days, rather than different sales on each. The sales are as follows:
10% off all bakery-style kits
20% off Berroco, Classic Elite, and Shepherd’s Wool (branded, not those they distribute) yarns
15% off all Bosom Buddy bags (those are the really cool knitting bags and handmade baskets)
35% off the original price on all sale yarn (and we’ve even put out more since Wednesday!)
Buy a $50 gift certificate, and we’ll make it $55
Buy a $100 gift certificate, and we’ll make it $115
(no loyal points on sale items, all sales are final, all sales are on in-stock items only, sales are while supplies last, does not apply to previously-purchased merchandise and/or gift certificates)
Happy Holidays from the entire team at Skeins On Main! We look forward to seeing you soon!

Lori Sheffield <![CDATA[Did you miss out on Shop Hop this weekend???]]> 2016-11-14T15:08:07Z 2016-11-14T15:07:32Z Did you miss out on Shop Hop this weekend??? We sent out a newsletter announcing TONS of new stuff, and people have been calling and sending messages asking about what’ll happen to it now that the weekend is over.
So… What the heck – LET THE FUN CONTINUE! While we can’t continue Shop Hop as a whole, we CAN continue it in our shop. We’re going to leave everything out and in it’s place for at least a couple of days. On Wednesday, we’ll have to start rehoming it (all the way to the shelves), but it’ll still be around. We were giving away a free gift with a pre-tax purchase of $15 or more (sorry, class registrations don’t count), so we’ll also continue that until supplies are gone.
Come visit us, find out what all the buzz is about, and check out all the new things we have to offer. The store is PACKED right now, and some of it won’t be offered again for a while (that’s how some hand-dyers work – we can only order a couple of times each year). Be sure you don’t miss out!
If you purchased item(s) that need to be wound, please feel free to drop it(them) off. The winder appears to be working again after Lori’s husband worked his magic on it, so we’ll wind it up and call you when it’s ready.

Lori Sheffield <![CDATA[Again…]]> 2016-03-02T14:46:58Z 2016-03-02T12:20:14Z Wouldn’t it be a lot more fun to read about all the new spring yarns? Unfortunately, they can’t arrive when we’re not there because of yet more snow…. But SOON! In the meantime, here we go again…..

In accordance with our policy… Rochester Community Schools closed (again) due to snow, so we’ll at least be opening late today. The morning (9:30-11:30am) class with Melissa will be canceled and made up on Wednesday, April 6th. We’ll figure out the rest as soon as I hear what the roads are like up in Rochester. Updates will be posted here and on Facebook. We really hope to see you very soon!

Update: The store will be opening at 11:30 this morning. The afternoon and evening classes will be held as scheduled. See you then!

Lori Sheffield <![CDATA[MORE SNOW!]]> 2016-03-01T22:35:11Z 2016-03-01T22:35:11Z Skeins will be closing at 7pm on Tuesday, March 1st, due to the snow. Jen’s 7-9 class will be made up on Tuesday, April 5th. Stay home, stay safe, and happy knitting!

Lori Sheffield <![CDATA[More white stuff]]> 2016-02-25T04:23:02Z 2016-02-25T04:23:02Z If you haven’t already heard, Rochester Community Schools will be closed on Thursday, 2/25/16. So, as the policy goes, we’ll be closed at least for the morning. At this time, without knowing what the roads are like in Rochester or what they’ll be like in the morning, it’s impossible to let you know how long we’ll remain closed or if afternoon/evening classes will be held. Please check Facebook or our website frequently for updates. We’re sorry for any inconvenience, but my guess is that you’d rather stay home, safe and warm, too.

Lori Sheffield <![CDATA[Something so pretty, yet so yucky]]> 2016-02-24T18:51:24Z 2016-02-24T18:51:24Z I REALLY should have become a weather man. Oh wait – that would require extensive surgery… How about a weather woman? Once again we’re trying to predict what the weather is going to do, and have had to make a decision to close the store early (3pm) in order to help keep everyone in our knitting community safe. The last thing we’d ever want is to be the reason someone came out in bad weather and was injured. So please… stay home tonight. Classes will be made up the week of April 3rd. Knit lots, make lots of mistakes, then bring them all in for us to fix. Ummm… But maybe not all at once, ok:? smile emoticon Happy knitting.

Lori Sheffield <![CDATA[Winter Weather Advisory – Yucky!]]> 2015-12-28T13:14:23Z 2015-12-28T13:14:09Z Good morning! As I sit and watch the weather intently, I realize that we will more than likely need to close the shop early today in order to keep our entire team (and you) safe. I’ve said it a million times… Knitting just isn’t life or death, and it’s not something that I can see risking injury for, and the Michigan State Police are asking everyone to stay home and off the roads.. So… In our little effort to help with the big picture, if the weather continues as it’s predicted to, we’ll close up shop when it begins to turn. Keep watching – we’ll post here and on Facebook once a time has been decided upon. In the meantime, we’ll be open at 9:30 this morning until at least noon, probably a little later. All in-stock yarns (sorry – kits, needles, and patterns/books/magazines are excluded) will be 25% off, just for some added fun (and to help us prepare for inventory – blech!). Happy knitting!
