Our Policies (updated 11/1/2020)

The Important Stuff:  ENJOY YOURSELF!  Our attitude is, “If you’re not having fun doing it, why are you doing it?” and we apply that to working in the store and just being there, too.  We have a lot of fun doing the things we’re doing, and we’d like you to enjoy it, too.  Please just relax and be yourself.   If you have a question, don’t be afraid to ask.  If you have a suggestion, please don’t be afraid to share it.  We love to hear your comments, both good and bad.  And most of all, we love to hear you laugh.

Covid-19 Precautions:  Due to the Coronavirus threat, we require that everyone who is not fully vaccinated wear a mask inside the store.  During classes, because we work and sit so closely with one another, we require that everyone wear a mask UNLESS they choose to show us their vaccine card.  We only need to see it once (we'll make a notation), we aren't going to photocopy it or flash it around at the table.  This way we can let the class know if one or more individuals has chosen not to show a card (or not to be vaccinated) and they can make their own decisions about what precautions make them feel most at ease.

Sitting and Knitting:  We encourage you to come into the store to sit and knit whenever you have some time and would like to join us.  We have multiple class tables where you can sit, relax, enjoy conversation with a friend or one of our friendly team members, and knit or crochet.

Snow Days: If Rochester schools are closed due to snow or an overnight ice storm, we'll cancel any and all 9:30am classes and plan to open late.  While we love what we do, the safety of our customers and team members is the most important thing to us.  If classes need to be canceled, students will be contacted via email with at least an hour's notice and closures will be posted on the website and on Facebook.  In the event of weather developing during the day, we’ll respond in the same way - we'll call/email classes and post early closures on Facebook.  When in doubt, always feel free to give us a shout at 248.656.9300.  Any cancelled classes will be offered a makeup session.

Classes: For four-week classes, registration is for the same day, time, and planned to be the same instructor each week.  We're unable to offer make-up classes out of fairness to the other students in each class. All classes must be paid upon registering. No exceptions can be made. In the event you need to cancel your class registration, you may receive a full refund if cancelling at least one week prior to the start of class. No refunds can be made after that time.  Any time we need to cancel a class due to unforeseen circumstances, a makeup date will be offered.  Substitutes for instructors may be made without prior notice.  Those classes aren't subject to a refund.

We offer something most other stores don’t.  At Skeins, class attendees are not required to use materials from the store.  Need something wound but didn’t buy it from us?  That’s no problem, either.  After all, all we really need to do is push a button.  No charge, no problem.  Just bring it in and we’ll take care of it.  All we ask is that you be patient while we wind yarn purchased from us first.  We're extremely careful when winding yarn, but sometimes things can happen.  We're happy to wind at no charge, but unfortunately we're unable to accept responsibility of your yarn gets tangled.  Should that happen, and we're unable to untangle it within a few minutes, we'll either tie up the remaining portion so it doesn't get worse as you travel with it, or we'll allow you work on it yourself from our swift.  Due to Covid-19, please quarantine any yarn you'd like wound for a couple of days prior to bringing it in.  If you don't, we'll do that for you, just as a safety precaution, and ask that you return to pick it up a few days later.

Returns:  In an effort to keep our customers and our team safe, Skeins is unable to accept returns at this time.  While we understand this is an inconvenience, it's nearly impossible to trace where an item has been once it's left our store, or what/who it's been in contact with.  It's important that we take every precaution possible during this time, in an effort to help keep everyone safe.  We're a small business, and quarantining items for prolonged periods just isn't something we have the space or inventory to do.  We're certain everyone will understand, as no one wants to pick something up and wonder where it's been.  Remember - it's only temporary and if we all do our part, we'll all get through this.
